The tonsils are located on each side of the back wall of the throat, just above and behind the tongue. The adenoids are found above and behind the roof of the mouth – where the nose and mouth join.
The patient is placed under general anesthesia for this procedure. A surgical cut is made in the neck, and the abscess is located and drained.
Thyroid surgery is an operation to remove part or all of the thyroid gland. It is performed in the hospital, and general anesthesia is usually required. Usually the operation removes the lobe of the thyroid gland containing the lump and possibly the isthmus.
